Prim. Univ.-Doz. Dr. Tho­mas Müll­ner and Priv.-Doz. Dr. Ma­xi­mi­lian Kas­pa­rek pre­sen­ted the first pro­mi­sing re­sults of a re­vo­lu­tio­nary sur­gi­cal me­thod for to­tal knee ar­thro­plasty, which was de­ve­lo­ped at the Evan­ge­li­sches Kran­ken­haus Wien, at the Or­tho Trauma Con­gress in Vienna.

The fo­cus is on the in­di­vi­dual re­con­s­truc­tion of the bio­me­cha­nics and ana­tomy of the knee, as it was be­fore the arthrosis.

With the help of th­ree-di­men­sio­nal na­vi­ga­tion, the ne­ces­sary bone cuts are per­for­med with mil­li­me­ter pre­cis­ion. Both the in­di­vi­dual li­ga­ment ten­sion and the ob­li­quity of the pa­ti­en­t’s joint line are ta­ken into account.
